You’re FIRST Myotherapy
Experience - What To Expect ….
- You have to make a booking
for your first session by contacting 9440 9453 available 24/7 and
talk to our reception
staff. You can also make a booking an appointment
online.
- At your initial myotherapy
visit (1 hour) you will be asked to fill in an information form
once you arrive. The form includes your personal details,
existing/past medical conditions, surgery, injuries ect.
- The myotherapist who will
be looking after you will go over what you have written in your
information form to have an in-depth understanding of your
complaint or answer any questions you may have
- The therapist will then
asses and examine your problems using orthopaedic testing, range of
motion and palpation testing
- Once the
myotherapist has found what the problem is and establish its cause,
he/she will use one or more of the following
techniques:
- Soft
tissue manipulation
- Trigger point
therapy
- Dry needling -
applying small needles
- Stretching
- Corrective
exercises
- Thermal
therapies (heat and cold)
- TENS
machine
- Myofasical
cupping
- Once the treatment is
completed, the myotherapist will check and retest the area/s worked
on so that you can see or feel the changes or improvements made to
your body
- If required, the
myotherapist may give you self help suggestions for home or work,
such as:
- Self-treatment
using a ball, foam roller
- Stretching or
strengthening related to your condition
- Heat packs
- Ice packs
- Posture advise
for work or home
- Application of
natural pain relieving gel
- Pillow
recommendations
- Nutritional
supplements – fish oil, magnesium, glucosamine ect
- After your first
treatment, your myotherapist may recommend you a follow up session
(55 minutes in duration)
What to bring:
- Any medical test results,
for example: x-ray, MRI (bring the report given with your
images)
- A referral letter
(only if given by your health professional, however you don’t need
a referral to see a myotherapist)
- A list of
medications and nutritional supplements your taking with the
doses
Please Note:
If your third session does not result in any improvement, the
myotherapist will refer you to another health care professional for
further investigation of a suitable treatment.
