having trouble finding hand sanitiser? You can make your own.

With the  Coronavirus  (COVID-19) outbreak there has been a storage of hand sanitisers and are extremely harder to find. The solution is to make it yourself until they become available in stores.

So how do you make your own hand sanitisers?

Dr. Ian Smith who is a medical physician will go through step by step how to make your own hand sanitiser. Be aware washing your hands with water and soap for 20 seconds is the best and most effective way to clean your hands according to the  World Health Organisastiom (WHO) if and when done correctly.

Hand SanitiSer

  • 2/3 cup rubbing alcohol of at least 70% alcohol concentration.
  • 1/3 cup Aloe Vera.
  • Add a few drops of essential oils of your choice.
    • Bergamot oil - effective against flu viruses 
    • Eucalyptus oil - anti-viral 
    • Red thyme - effective against flu viruses 
    • Cinnamon leaf  - antiviral 
    • Tea tree oil  - antiviral properties 
    • Clove (eugenol) - antiviral and antifungal properties 
  • Mix well and fill dispenser of choice.

Please Note : When using rubbing alcohol with higher alcohol concentrations you can add water to the mix. For example isopropyl alcohol is 99% which can vary in alcohol concentration.

Disinfectant Wipes

Not only can you make your own hand sanitiser you can make your own wipes.
  • 2 cups of warm water
  • 1 cup rubbing alcohol of at least 70% alcohol concentration.
  • 1 tablespoon of dish soap
  • Mix well
  • Add mixture to half a roll of paper towels in a  container
